New Dawn’s work reflects the full complexity of community life. Our programs span environmental justice and clean energy, agricultural development and food systems, workforce development, health equity, and civic engagement and community access.
Connected work. Shared Community Goals.
Clean Energy and Environmental Justice
- A Clean Energy Future That Belongs to Everyone
We build clean energy infrastructure in communities that need it most – and we make sure the benefits stay in the community. Our flagship Genesis Project at First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens in Somerset integrates rooftop solar, battery storage, and EV charging with workforce training and community space, demonstrating that the clean energy transition can be anchored in community institutions and produce real economic opportunity for local residents.
We also advocate for environmental justice policy at the state and local level, ensuring that overburdened communities have a voice in the energy and environmental decisions that affect their health, their costs, and their futures.
Agricultural Development and Food Systems
- Growing Food, Growing Futures
- Partner: Indigo Valley Farm
Access to fresh, healthy, locally grown food is not equally distributed across Central New Jersey. New Dawn is building an agricultural development program that addresses this gap through community growing initiatives, food systems education, AgTech partnerships, and pre - apprenticeship pathways that connect residents - especially young people - to. careers in sustainable agriculture and food production.
Workforce Development and Apprenticeships
- Real Careers. Real Wages. Built Right Here.
New Dawn’s workforce development programs connect Central Jersey residents to living-wage careers in clean energy, agriculture, and other growing sectors through structured apprenticeship and pre- apprenticeship training. We prioritize residents of overburdened communities, returning citizens, veterans, and individuals from low-income households.
Health Equity, Domestic Violence Awareness, and Community Wellness
New Dawn believes that health is a community issue, not just an individual one. We approach health equity broadly - recognizing that access to healthcare, safety from violence, support during and after pregnancy, and general wellness are all shaped by the same systemic inequities that shape economic and environmental opportunity.
- Every Person. Every Body. Every Family.
- Partners: Mercy Project | Kean University and Gil Energy
Domestic Violence
We conduct awareness programming around domestic violence, with a focus on reaching communities where these conversations are often hardest to start. We connect survivors with resources and provide supportive programming designed to meet people where they are.
Legal Solutions
Black women in America face disproportionately high rates of maternal mortality and morbidity. New Dawn is committed to raising awareness, supporting advocacy efforts, and connecting Black women and families in Central Jersey to maternal health resources and support systems.
Wealth Management
We work to connect community members to health resources, wellness programming, and health education, with particular attention to underserved populations who face barriers to care in Central Jersey communities.
